| Expect the Unexpected |

What will 2008 be remembered for? If the second half of the
year is anything like the first half of the year, it may be remembered
as the Year of the Upsets. It started in January when the undefeated
Patriots were soundly beaten by the Giants in the Super Bowl. It
has continued during the early months of the baseball season where
up until recently, one could easily have assumed that the standings
were being printed upside down, as the mighty Yankees were in last
place, and the Tampa Bay Rays, a team that has never had a winning
record in its history, were in first place. And just recently, one
of the biggest upsets in horse racing history occurred when the
previously undefeated Big Brown, a prohibitive favorite to win the
Triple Crown, lost the Belmont Stakes to a 38–1 longshot named
Da' Tara.
But it's not only in sports where upsets have occurred. In other
walks of life, where the people are the ones deciding the results,
we've seen that the masses often don't behave as the experts expect.
On American Idol this year, the critics and the world's
most famous curmudgeon, Simon Cowell, expected a sweeping victory
by David Archuleta. When the results came in, it was learned that
his rival, David Cook, actually had won in a landslide. And in the
political realm, Hillary Clinton, considered “unbeatable”
by many pundits last year, was humbled by Barack Obama in the run
to be the Democratic nominee for president.

it: "With so many brands and properties, dozens of outside agencies,
as well as our own corporate team, how do we provide our entire marketing
organization with the tools to ensure consistent branding and high-quality
